COVID-19 Safety
Dear Mountain Mahogany Families:
Welcome to the 2022 – 2023 school year. Below, you will find a comprehensive guide to Mountain Mahogany’s COVID Safe Practices for this school year. In determining our COVID Safe Practices, Mountain Mahogany hopes to keep our school community as healthy as possible, while also allowing our traditions and school experience to resume safely. Ultimately, Mountain Mahogany believes that in-person learning experiences are crucial for the social, emotional and academic development of students. Because we believe staying open for in-person learning is so very important, we take preventing the spread of COVID-19 very seriously. Public health research tells us that the best way to prevent the spread of COVID-19 is to use multiple prevention strategies. This includes reporting symptoms of illness, frequent COVID-19 testing, tracing close contacts, using a test to stay protocol and improving and monitoring indoor air quality. Mountain Mahogany will not require students and school employees to mask during the 2022 – 2023 school year, except when having symptoms of illness or when considered a close contact. Our School Nurse, Karin Luzzi, continues to recommend universal indoor making as one of the most important choices individuals can make to protect themselves and others. Mountain Mahogany also recommends that students and school employees stay up-to-date on all vaccinations, including vaccinations for COVID-19. Mountain Mahogany believes that we thrive as a school community when we reduce our risk together. We must be mindful that, with COVID, the risks we take as an individual are the risks we take for our community. Over the past three school years of COVID-19, I have been incredibly impressed with the strength and resilience of our school community, and the care and respect our students and families have demonstrated to each other. Our COVID Safe Practice are only as effective as how carefully they are followed. Should the status of COVID-19 in our community change significantly, please expect these practices to evolve with the needs of our community.
